What is post-tensioning?
Post-tensioning is a me≈>&thod of reinforcing concrete. High↔Ω≠∏-strength steel tendons are positi£ oned in ducts or sleeπ↔§ves before the concrete id place÷'σd. Once the concrete has gained stren<®←gth, tension is then applied, p'ulling the tendons and anchoring them↔ against the outer edges of the con↔→εcrete, before service ¶±★≤loads are applied.
The PT technique is φ¥♠a form of pre-stressing, whi ✔÷↑ch differs slightly from post-tens<∏>©ioning as steel tendons areλ∞★↔ tensioned before the concrete is placα☆ed. The tendons are strent±≠≤ched between strong buγλilheads which withstand external force↕✘"★s and the concrete is poured around the✔✘m.
